Users of ALT Linux 4.0 Server can now take advantage of "Red Database 2.0" — first Russian enterprise database management system with open source.

On August 29, OOO "Red Soft Corporation" and OOO "ALT Linux" sign off the "On testing of the Red Database 2.0 software product" report. Testing results show full compatibility and correct operation of DBMS Red Database 2.0 on computers operated by OS ALT Linux 4.0 Server 64bit.

Golden Software of Belarus, Ltd (Golden programs, Ampersant) was founded in 1994 in Minsk, Belarus. Its first released product was "Angelica", a user-friendly program preparing and printing out payment documents.

Red Soft Corporation released the first Russian enterprise open source DBMS – Red Database 2.0

On August 15th, 2007 Red Soft Corporation released the first ever Russian enterprise open source DBMS – DBMS "Red Database", v. 2.0. The distribution kit of Red Database 2.0 Open edition is available for free download and installation from our web site.

The Red Database kernel is based on Firebird 2.0 - one of the best established, well-known and globally widespread open source DBMS in the world, which is used in solutions of various scale: from the built in hardware systems and solutions for small businesses to IT systems of largest transnational corporations with databases up to tens of terabytes and tens of millions transactions per day.

Red Soft Corporation supports its own source code of all Red Database components, including Firebird 2.0. We engage the best resources to release new versions, develop the functionality, perform testing, and render DBMS maintenance and support services. Red Database includes all appropriate components for DBMS operation, including original documentation.

Red Database 2.0 testing is completed on IBM's servers

On July 25, 2007, Red Soft Corporation and IBM completed compatibility and correct operation tests with DBMS Red Database 2.0 on IBM's servers BladeCenter HS20 8843 88435RG at IBM's Innovation Center East Europe/Asia. Joint activities assume tests on other platform base servers of IBM.

Our Murom laboratory completed development and compiling of the installation pack for Red Database 2.0

Red Database 2.0 is the first ever Russian enterprise open source DBMS. As soon as the final tests of Red Database 2.0 are completed, it will be available for enterprise application in the following releases: "Enterprise", "Standard", and "For Developer", as well as for free download from our web site in the "Open" release.

FireBird's birthday

Firebird is a DBMS based on open source codes Borland InterBase 6.0. In 2000, when the InterBase future was yet vague and uncertain, Borland corporation decided to open DBMS source codes and publish them with free distribution licenses. The Firebird project was started on June 31, 2000 with the aim of code development, free distribution and usage. Since then the Project has dynamically developed. Firebird developers fixed a significant amount of old InterBase errors and added new functionality.

Today, Firebird DBMS is one of the most popular open source DBMS. Different estimates show 3 to 10 million Firebird users.

On July 28, 2007, a Development Center was established in the city of Tver

On July 28, 2007, the second Development Center of Red Soft Corporation was established in the city of Tver. The major areas of the laboratory's activities are outsourcing and development of own application software for Russian and foreign IT market.

The city of Tver was deliberately chosen for the Center. There are two fundamental reasons:

  • Advantageous geographical situation, 200 km from the capital;
  • Two universities in the city, with up to 700 IT specialists graduating annually.
